The Meltdown Notes

Looks like we’re just going to have to inaugurate a new regular feature here on Power Line, which I’ll call “The Meltdown Notes.” We’ll have to exert some discipline to keep it from becoming an hourly update. It may also have to be cross-referenced at times with our “Civil War on the Left” series, since the left’s Trump Meltdown is causing the rifts on the left to expand even wider.

I like this news item from CNBC:

There’s just something about Donald Trump that makes women rush to get birth control.

New data show that the number of women who received IUD birth control devices spiked on the heels of Trump’s election as president, which could reflect concerns about the costs women would have to personally pay for those devices if Obamacare is repealed.

Maybe these women are worried about having to pay more for their contraceptives, but this explanation misses a larger point: liberal women don’t want to procreate. Which is quite fine with me.

Next up, the funniest straight news headline of the year so far, in Politico:

Democrats hold lessons on how to talk to real people

No, just stop it. This is too good. I can’t even. Etc. What’s even better is who they’re taking advice from:

Gathering in Sheperdstown, W.Va., Democrats were scheduled to hear from liberal political operative David Brock on Thursday, who ran a session called “Hold Trump Accountable” with Center for American Progress CEO Neera Tanden and Priorities USA CEO Guy Cecil. Earlier in the day, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) moderated a “discussion with Trump voters,” according to a draft schedule obtained by POLITICO.

David Brock?! I think I’ll just go to the casino cashier’s window and cash in my chips now.

Finally, for some pure comic relief, the clever folks at Bad Lip Reading have done the inauguration:
