The Ossoff variations

The jejune Jon Ossoff fell just short of winning the special election in Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District yesterday. He will face Republican Karen Handel in the runoff election in June. The contest therefore shapes up as a conventional Democrat versus Republican matchup rather than the cage match of yesterday’s special election with a field of 18 candidates.

America Rising has posted a clip of Ossoff fielding questions from CNN’s Alisyn Camerota (video below). Following up on reports that Ossoff doesn’t even live in the district, Camerota asks him: “Is it true you can’t vote for yourself?” After a painful silence, Ossoff talks around the question. He has been living with his girlfriend of 12 years, he explains, and he is supporting her as she completes her education.

Camerota asks: “So when are you going to marry her?” He’ll get back to her on that one.

Camerota then gets back to the question whether he lives in the district. Ossoff talks around the question some more.

Paul notes that Ossoff declared the result of yesterday’s special election “a victory for the ages.” In the same sense I’m declaring this an interview for the ages.
