Mulvaney on the spending bill

OMB Director Mick Mulvaney is promoting the spending bill backed by the White House with President Trump’s ambivalent support, if I can rightly put it that way (and I’m afraid I can). Sarah Ferris and Jennifer Scholtes report:

Less than 48 hours after the funding bill’s release, White House budget chief Mick Mulvaney is forcefully working to reverse the narrative that Democrats emerged as clear victors, and President Donald Trump is touting the legislation as delivering on his core campaign promises.

“The Dems were trying to take credit for a win. That’s fine,” Mulvaney said Tuesday, in his second briefing with reporters in just over 12 hours. “The truth of the matter here is that what happened is the American people won and the president negotiated that victory for them.”

Next stop: “Can’t anybody here play this game?”

I should add that, in my opinion, Mick Mulvaney capably plays the game. However, his credibility is being undermined by circumstances including the boss’s evident frustrations.
