Trump condemns

Lest there be any doubt about his own views, President Trump has forcefully condemned the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville over the weekend. “To anyone who acted criminally in this weekend’s racist violence,” Trump said, “you will be held fully accountable. Justice will be delivered. As I said on Saturday, we condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence. It has no place in America.”

He added: “Racism is evil. And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.”

Trump’s statement will do nothing to deter Democrats and their media adjunct from abusing Trump for his alleged alliance with the “alt-right” and so on, but I think he has done the right thing, and that it is better that he has done so slightly late rather than never.
