Yesterday Charlottesville, Today Seattle

A group called Patriot Prayer scheduled a rally in Seattle yesterday. Joey Gibson, the group’s leader, said the purpose of the rally was to promote free speech and America. This naturally drew the ire of the Left, and the fascist group called “antifa” planned a counter-demonstration. To the surprise of NBC News, apparently, the Patriot Prayer rally went ahead yesterday as scheduled: “Right-Wing Rally Goes Ahead in Seattle Despite Violence in Virginia.”

NBC describes Patriot Prayer as “alt-right,” a term I had never heard until the 2016 presidential campaign. I still have never met anyone who says he or she is “alt-right.” Maybe someday someone will explain what it is supposed to mean. Patriot Prayer’s leader is pro-Trump; maybe that is all it takes.

NBC’s description of what happened in Seattle is circumspect:

Police and protesters clashed during a right-wing rally and counter-demonstration in Seattle on Sunday, but there were no immediate reports of serious injuries.
***
Seattle police said in a statement that three men were arrested on suspicion of obstruction and assault. Confiscated weapons included ax handles, 2-by-4s and balloons containing an “unknown liquid substance,” the statement said.

NBC doesn’t tell us who, exactly, got arrested and carried ax handles, 2-by-4s and an “unknown liquid substance,” but it was the “antifa” fascists.

At PJ Media, Debra Heine has a more informative account:

The rally, organized by the conservative group Patriot Prayer, came one day after violent clashes in Charlottesville, Virginia, that left three people dead and dozens injured.

Counter-protesters — including antifa, Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), Veterans for Peace, Indivisible Seattle, Black Lives Matter, and the Freedom Socialist Party — marched “in solidarity against hate,” specifically against what they called “the bigotry, racism and violence” of the “far-right” organizers. Solidarity Against Hate counter-protesters waved communist flags, yelled “f*ck America,” squirted police with silly-string, and burned the American flag.

No hate there! Ms. Heine includes multiple videos and photos which all show the same thing: the violence–all of it–came from the Left. Here is a fascist burning the American flag. Note how the “antifa” fascists dress in black and wear masks:

The leftists who attacked the Patriot Prayer rally made no effort to conceal their Communist sympathies:

Joey Gibson opened the microphone to anyone who wanted to speak. Most who took the stage were on the other side, as the Leftists outnumbered Patriot Prayer. But that wasn’t enough to satisfy the fascists:

At Westlake Park, antifa shouted down the pro-Trump speakers. According to The Seattle Times, “more than once someone from the crowd has jumped onto the stage to grab the microphone away.”

The fascists (or Communists, the difference isn’t worth arguing about, like the difference between the Crips and the Bloods) were responsible for all violence and all confrontations with the police. The leftists were trying to get past the Seattle police so they could attack the Patriot Prayer pro-free speech contingent. Unlike what happened in Charlottesville, the Seattle police kept the fascists at bay:

This is why I supported President Trump’s initial statements about the Charlottesville violence, and was disappointed when he yielded to liberal pressure and denounced only the white supremacists who planned the original Charlottesville demonstration. They deserve condemnation, to be sure, but they are just one source among several of political violence, and nowhere near the most important one. The vast majority of anti-democratic violence comes from the Left–“antifa,” Black Lives Matter, Democratic Party activists like James Hodgkinson, and so on. Those leftists are all getting a free pass, and President Trump seems to have given up on fighting them with his latest statement about Charlottesville.
