The supremacy of stupidity

We are suffocating in the stupidity of politicians such as up and coming Democrat Rep.-to-be Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a frank socialist. We are suffocating in the stupidity of the Democratic Party’s media adjunct such as MSNBC’s Chris Hayes. Hayes fancies himself a brilliant wit and I would concede that he is half-right. If breathing weren’t an autonomic function, they both might be too stupid to breathe. Glenn Reynolds provides perspective.

I link Ocasio-Cortez and Hayes because Hayes’s witticism appears to have been prompted by Ocasio-Cortez’s appearance on Comedy Central’s Daily Show with Trevor Noah this past Thursday night (John posted the video here yesterday). Bre Payton considered a few of the highlights of Ocasio-Cortez’s efforts to explain herself here.

Among other things, Ocasio-Cortez told Noah: “Just last year we gave the military a $700 billion budget increase, which they didn’t even ask for! They’re like, ‘We don’t want another fighter jet!’ They’re like, ‘Don’t give us another nuclear bomb!’ you know?” As John noted, Megan McArdle disposed of this insight on Twitter (in fewer than 280 characters). The lady needs the help that Hayes fails to provide.
