Ellison off the brink

John observed that Minnesota Attorney General candidate Keith Ellison — incumbent Fifth District representative and deputy chairman of the Democratic National Committee — might have been on the brink of being forced off the DFL ticket by domestic abuse allegations that surfaced this past weekend. I don’t think so. The rules of the game have never applied to Ellison and and they aren’t going to be applied now. Yesterday the DFL formally ratified Tuesday’s primary result and endorsed Ellison for attorney general.

When I say the rules don’t apply to Ellison, this is what I mean. The domestic abuse allegations might be the least of Ellison’s disqualifications for high office. His long-time and active membership in the Nation of Islam hate cult must rank high on any such list, as must his bald, persistent and demonstrable lies about it. By any reckoning, however, at the top of Ellison’s list of disqualifications for attorney general is his crazed support over the years for cop killers. Maybe the press will get around to reporting it before election day even if they didn’t before the primary but, as I say, the rules don’t apply to Ellison.
