Quotations from Chairman Joe

Quoting President Biden, I always look here for the official White House transcript of his remarks, both for accuracy and context. The transcript is also frequently useful to penetrate remarks that require translation, as did those at yesterday’s White House Juneteenth celebration.

The Daily Mail has a brutal story on Biden’s performance here (the New York Post story is here). The Daily Mail gives up on the translation of one passage:

The president delivered a message about Juneteenth to the audience but suffered another deeply off-putting moment when his speech became slurred beyond comprehension.

“She knows loss.. she know.. (incoherent) our freedom can never be secured,” he said.

The video clip below gives us the moment “when his speech became slurred beyond comprehension.” For some reason or other, as of this moment the White House has provided no transcript of Biden’s Juneteenth remarks. We are on our own.

Even worse than the moment “when his speech became slurred beyond comprehension” was a moment when his speech became “coherent” (as the Daily Mail puts it with respect to another quote). Here Biden warned his audience that “old ghosts” in new outfits were afoot, working to seize their freedoms and restrict their voting access. You know who he’s talking about. What a loathsome liar.

Biden sat next to honored guest Philonise Floyd — the brother of Saint George Floyd — at the White House festivities. Thus he seeks to lift up the black community to support him.

UPDATE: The White House has posted the transcript of these remarks here. According to the transcript, this is what Biden purported to say: “She know lo- — she knew so long as our history was de- — denied, our freedom can never be secured.”
