Vote For the Populists!

I am proud to be the president of what I think is the most grass-roots policy organization in the U.S. Center of the American Experiment has 9,000 grass roots donors, with a median contribution between $50 and $60. We use every medium, including radio ads and billboards, to get our conservative messages in front of Minnesotans a hundred million times or more, every year. And we have an email list that is 146,000 strong.

We get out to where the people are, sponsoring an average of a live event per week, all across the state of Minnesota, where we have six chapters in addition to our base in the Twin Cities. Each year, we have a booth at FarmFest to reach ag-oriented Minnesotans, and, for one Saturday, we have a booth at the Minnesota State Fair.

Last year, we had a spinning wheel where you could win free American Experiment-branded merchandise, including t-shirts, pens, corn on the cob holders, tote bags, refrigerator magnets, and so on:

We had a long line at our booth from 8 am to 5 pm, and gave away more than 3,000 items of American Experiment merchandise. We also handed out free copies of our magazine and other literature:

In addition, we gave away a $250 gift card, getting hundreds of entries, to help defray the rising cost of car tabs in Minnesota–a very unpopular tax increase that our legislature enacted last year.

Our State Fair effort is so exceptional in the world of conservative think tanks that the State Policy Network has nominated us for one of its 2024 Communications Excellence awards. We are competing against tanks from Tennessee and Louisiana in the “Bold Brand Boost” category. You can go here to vote for us. Please note that for your vote to be valid, you have to vote in all three Communications Excellence categories. You can read about the other entrants here.

All are worthy, but we are trying to bring a new ethos to the world of conservative think tanks–a populist perspective that recognizes that we can never achieve a more conservative country if we don’t reach millions of Americans and explain to them why conservative policies are best. The Communications Excellence awards are determined by popular vote, so your vote counts! I hope you will cast it for American Experiment. And vote soon, because the contest closes tomorrow.
