Last night, American Experiment held a pre-release screening of the Daily Wire’s new movie, Am I Racist? for an invited audience of 230. Justin Folk, who produced and directed the film, attended the showing and answered questions from the audience afterward.
Am I Racist? stars Matt Walsh, who appears in nearly every frame. It was produced by the same team, Matt Walsh and Justin Folk, that created What Is a Woman? for the Daily Wire a couple of years ago. Unlike What Is a Woman?, which was hosted at the Daily Wire’s web site, Am I Racist? is a full-scale theatrical release.
So how is the movie? Very good and very funny. The format is similar to What Is a Woman?, in that Walsh investigates the anti-racist movement and interviews a number of leaders of that movement. Those interviews are in some respects appalling, but often hilarious. It is hard to see how Robin DiAngelo’s career, for instance, can survive the release of Am I Racist?
The proponents of the anti-racism movement are revealed as grifters who charge astonishing amounts of money to enlighten (and often abuse) white people. The regular Americans who appear in the film are, by contrast, sincere and refreshingly normal. Even the bikers.
This is the trailer for Am I Racist?
I definitely encourage you to see it. Also, it is good to buy tickets now, pre-release. Pre-release sales help to determine the number of screens that theater chains will devote to the movie. More screens mean more viewers and more impact. You can buy pre-release tickets at the film’s web site.
