Memory against forgetting

Milan Kundera famously observed: “The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting.” Jon Karl of ABC News — he is not engaged in the struggle. He is on the side of power. He supports forgetting. He’s a memory hole kind of guy.

Here is the video clip of Senator Tom Cotton cutting through Karl’s fog yesterday on This Week (transcript here). As NewsBusters puts it: “Tom Cotton DESTROYS Jon Karl on Kamala’s Inferred Policy Flip-Flops.”

In her short-lived 2020 presidential campaign, as Senator Cotton recalled, Harris advocated the abolition of private health insurance. Harris declared:

When pressed by town hall host Jake Tapper over whether she would be willing to eliminate private health insurance as part of creating that new single payer system, Harris stood firm.

“Who of us has not had that situation, where you’ve got to wait for approval (for medical care) and the doctor says, well, I don’t know if your insurance company is going to cover this?,” Harris said. “Let’s eliminate all of that. Let’s move on.”

Don’t tell me there is video!

The Republican National Committee has posted a useful summary of Harris’s statements of policy (with links) for the likes of Jon Karl here.
