According to Tucker Carlson, Darryl Cooper “may be the best and most honest popular historian in the United States. His latest project is the most forbidden of all: trying to understand World War Two.” Carlson added: “I want people to know who you are and I want you to be widely recognized as the most important historian in the United States.”
You may not be familiar with Cooper’s views — I was pleased never to have heard of him — but Carlson is. As anyone who pays the price of shedding brain cells to listen to Carlson’s two-hour interview of Cooper will discover that Carlson agrees with Cooper. He isn’t just asking questions. He seeks to promote and popularize Cooper’s views, as is apparent from his interjections during the interview. That’s why Carlson had Cooper on his show.
“People can certainly take issue with any factual claims you’re making. I assume they’re all right,” Carlson said. “They’re consistent with what I think I know to be true.”
Cooper appears to be a Nazi sympathizer a la the notorious Holocaust denier David Irving and an old-fashioned Jew hater. According to Cooper, Churchill was the “chief villain” of World War II. He was installed by shadowy “financiers.” His lifelong support of the Jewish people was bought and paid for. The millions who died in Nazi camps somehow “ended up dead.” And so on.
Carlson was a featured speaker at the Republican National Convention. He is hosting J.D. Vance on Carlson’s first-ever Tucker Carlson Live tour in Hershey, Pennsylvania on September 23. Inquiring minds at Jewish Insider want to know what Vance thinks of Tucker’s promotion of Cooper.
Senator Vance issued this statement to Jewish Insider yesterday: “Senator Vance doesn’t believe in guilt-by-association cancel culture but he obviously does not share the views of the guest interviewed by Tucker Carlson. There are no stronger supporters of our allies in Israel or the Jewish community in America than Senator Vance and President Trump.”
That “guilt-by-association” thing is an unbecoming dodge. Carlson wasn’t “associating” with Cooper. He was promoting him.
The Vance statement went on: “As Senator Vance and President Trump stand steadfastly in support of our allies in Israel, radical Kamala Harris continues to cater to the antisemitic Hamas wing of her party.” True, but what about your buddy Tucker? It’s time to declare.
