Thoughts from the ammo line

When I was a teenager, somebody, probably a guy, showed me this humorous little aphorism. It’s an example of word play, so it has to be shown rather than told.

I got quite a kick out of it, having heard the “original” – “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink” — from Daddy many times, often in reference to myself. And here it is:

“You can lead a horticulture – but you can’t make her learn.” That’s FUNNY, I don’t care who you are! And an excellent theme for the evasive, flip-flopping Teleprompter-Dependent dullard that is Willie Brown’s former sidepiece and current DEI candidate for President of the United States. What a wretched example to young women on how to get “ahead.”

Let me make perfectly clear: I have lived long and prospered. I traveled the country for 30 years entertaining women’s wellness events several times a week. So I have met literally tens of thousands of women of every hue. And I have never – no, not once – met anyone as obviously stupid or phony as Kamala Harris. And to quote Sojourner Truth, “Ain’t I a woman?” But today’s topic is “Culture.”

What can we say about Culture? Culture is exciting, right? Culture is what we aspire to, with our aspirations, only don’t eat before surgery or you could aspirate vomit, but our great American culture is unburdened by losing every game, right? and still being undefeated, you know, like the Minnesota Vikings, right? And yet…oh I’m sorry…I have been watching Kamala speak waaay too many times.

So let’s start again. Culture. What’s the deal with it? It used to mean such things as a strong Work Ethic (ascribed to Protestants, but quite evident in Catholics and Jews as well. Mormons maybe most of all…) Markers for economic success like being on time, a sense of urgency, perfection or at least exactitude. Well, work ethic, religious foundation, plus a rich cultural heritage from the Greeks, Romans, The Magna Carta and the unique American spirit. But now we are told by obscenely paid and rotund women in Spandex that those values were just White Supremacy all along.

Personally, I think the days of being lectured at work by such awful grifters are coming to an end, but they have already done considerable damage.

Several years back, the Wokester Loons (largely but not exclusively Mean Girl college students) decreed which cultures were NOT to be “appropriated” by committing such crimes as eating tacos when you weren’t Mexican. I asked the owner at my favorite local taqueria if he objected to an elderly white Jewish woman buying his tacos and he answered quite directly: “[Heck] NO! Are you CRAZY? Thanks for the business!”

Other examples of cultural appropriation according to college girl crybullies were doing Yoga when you weren’t an East Indian or wearing hoop earrings if you weren’t a Latin girl.

I had no idea my late Latvian Jewish mother-in-law, born in 1903, was part Mexican, but she had several pairs of lovely gold earrings in hoops. Shame, Minna, shame! I guess when you were sent from Riga to college in Germany at 15, you didn’t learn about cultural appropriation. Though soon enough you learned about REAL “appropriation” of everything you had, and almost your life. First, from the Russian Commies in Latvia and then from the Nazis in Germany and Hungary. Well, at least Minna never had a taco in her entire life.

Not every culture is alike. Not every culture is good, let alone great. Not every culture can be assimilated into ours. Especially when that isn’t even a goal and they don’t try.

For example, one quaint Hindu cultural custom in days of old involved the burning of widows, either voluntarily or against their will. If a Hindu woman’s husband died, the practice of sati involved her being burned alive. Kamala should worry about this one. Women typically live longer than men. Should Doug “Babysitter Boinker” Emhoff pass on first, surely Ms. Harris would object to being burned alive on a funeral pyre. True, Emhoff is a Jew who doesn’t have a clue what Chanukah means, but Harris IS part Indian when it suits her.

But the good news is she won’t HAVE to be burned alive! Can you guess WHY? Because those evil white colonialists in India put a stop to that particular barbarity. When the usual suspects complained that it was racist to do away with such a lovely custom, Commander of British forces in India, (1843-1847) Sir Charles Napier, issued the following famous statement:

“Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.”

Which brings us to the horror of “othering” the migrants of Springfield, Ohio, the 20 THOUSAND Haitians dumped unceremoniously upon that small town. A small city of 60,000 cannot possibly absorb the influx of another THIRD of its population – even if they were blonde Swedes – and certainly not from a non-English speaking culture that could not BE more foreign. Never before in history have the native citizens been expected to employ, feed, and house migrants at the expense of the local population.

Why would anyone DOUBT that house pets and water fowl are being eaten when the very leader in CHARGE of Haiti had taken for himself the adorable nickname of “BBQ” – to signal that he enjoyed burning other HUMANS alive. Surely, such a criminal would not hesitate to grill a cat or poach a goose.

The Democrat Open Borders advocates have only the tattered and worn out “Race Card” to play. Nobody could possibly object to invaders emptied out of prisons and mental hospitals being flown at taxpayer expense to unsuspecting towns. Some invaders come from cultures who sexually mutilate their little girls or kill teenage girls because of “honor.” But no American can object to their presence on the basis of natural repugnance to such practices.

First the defenders of the invasion – and the “charities” who profit wildly from it — will assert that those bad things never happened. But when it’s proven over and over, they have to play The Card. It’s just because the people who do those things are brown or black or beige or ecru and the white citizenry is just bigoted.

Pick up a paper, listen to CNN and you may hear the phrases “traditionally-Arab East Jerusalem.” Or, certainly, “Historically Black Universities and Colleges.” Yet St. Cloud, Minnesota was a small and close-knit city of “traditionally-and historically-Catholic” customs and mores. But when Governor Mark Dayton (D-Mentally Ill) supported the resettling of Somalis in the town, it was the RESIDENTS who had lived there for generations who were told to get out if they didn’t like it.

You can only install so many people from utterly failed states – Afghanistan, Haiti, Somalia, Venezuela, Gaza – without creating a new failed state. Especially if you give them every freebie unavailable to poor people in Appalachia or Detroit and demand nothing from them in the way of compliance to our norms. It would seem that the newcomers’ watchword is not Baby Kamala’s “fweedom,” but rather “GIMME.”

Yes, indeed, we have been a “nation of immigrants.” They were the ones who came through Ellis Island, had to have a relative willing to sponsor them or a job waiting. They had medical examinations and were sent back if they had an eye infection, never mind TB. When they gained admittance, they went to Night School and learned English and American History. They were proud and grateful new Americans, even after they learned the streets were not paved with gold after all and they were going to have to work just as hard as back home. They came for liberty and opportunity, not handouts, “equity,” and squatters’ rights.
