Britain drove the Industrial Revolution, with Germany close behind. Now those two countries are taking the lead in de-industrialization, something that no one would have imagined just 20 or 30 years ago. But that is what happens when you decide to double, triple or quadruple the cost of energy. You can’t compete with those, even those in much less developed societies, who pursue rational energy policies.

The British economy is stagnant–not a good thing–but its industrial sector is cratering. Manufacturing is down, and the chemical industry is down catastrophically, in just a few years. This is the merest hint of what is to come if countries like the U.K. and Germany continue down the insane path of unreliable and ruinously expensive “green” energy.
Or, of course, if we do the same.
