Dear Mr. McHenry

I understand that immigration attorney James McHenry has been named Acting Attorney General pending the confirmation of Pam Bondi. In time Harmeet Dhillon will be confirmed as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights. This morning I wrote the Acting Attorney General with my contact information:

Dear Mr. McHenry: I am a retired attorney who writes for the site Power Line (powerlineblog.com). I have been covering the lawsuit filed here by the Department of Justice on January 6 seeking a court order approving a consent decree with the City of Minneapolis.

The 175-page consent decree would impose minute regulations on otherwise lawful conduct of Minneapolis police offers. It will affect a department that is 150 officers short of its legally required minimum (730) and 320 officers short of the 900 on staff as of May 2020. The department is horribly understaffed and the consent decree is highly unlikely to attract candidates with decent alternatives to the department.

I am writing to take the liberty of drawing this lawsuit to your attention because it is blatantly obvious that it was filed on January 6 to avoid the incoming Trump administration. I think that is because everyone knows the incoming officials would not sign off on the lawsuit.

Thank you for your courtesies.

In response to my message I received an automatic out-of-office response. If you know Mr. McHenry, would you please forward this post to him?
