The Daily Chart: Which is the Authoritarian Party?

Kudos to the Wall Street Journal today for calling out the appalling hypocrisy of Democrats on “election denial,” most especially House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries. Jeffries had this to say in the House early in the week:

There are no election deniers on our side of the aisle. You see, one should love America. One should love America when you win and when you lose. That’s the patriotic thing to do, and that’s the America that House Democrats will fight hard to preserve because we love this country.

No election deniers among Democrats, eh? Does he really think no one recalls the Democrat-sponsored Russia Hoax? There are numerous YouTube videos featuring Democrats denying that Trump was legitimately elected in 2016, but in fact Democratic Party election denial can be demonstrated all the way back to 1968 if you want, because Democrats believe every Republican president was illegitimate, because of the “side of history” or something.

Unfortunately for Jeffries, the Wall Street Journal has the receipts from Jeffries own Twitter/X feed. Here are just a few:

From Mr. Jeffries’s tweets:

March 22, 2017:

With legitimacy of Trump’s presidential election in doubt, his lifetime appt to Supreme Court can wait #FilibusterGorsuch #StopGorsuch

Feb. 16, 2018:

The more we learn about 2016 election the more ILLEGITIMATE it becomes. America deserves to know whether we have a FAKE President in the Oval Office #RussianInterference

Sept. 28, 2018:

LIE (more than any administration in the history of the Republic). CHEAT (2016 election/Russian Interference). STEAL (one or two Supreme Court seats). When will Republicans put country ahead of party? #CleanUpCorruption

This claim is in service of the larger claim that Trump and Republicans represent an authoritarian “threat to democracy.” Looks like another case of projection to me:
