Switching to baseball

As I write this, the Boston Red Sox are six outs away from advancing to the American League Championship Series. The Chicago Cubs are already in the National League Championship Series. If the Red Sox make it, we’re in for endless stories about the insufferably “long-suffering” fans of these two teams. In this column, which had me laughing out loud, Norman Chad of the Washington Post shows what self-indulgent nonsense this self-pity is. Chad even manages to work in my home town (number 9 on his top ten cities list), along with The Mall of America and the Whig Party (but you may want to skip the Q&A that follows).
HINDROCKET adds: Yeah, Deacon was so traumatized by being a Washington Senators fan that he turned to soccer!
