Ming dynasty

If you’re a basketball fan and you haven’t seen Yao Ming play this year, you should check him out. Last night, in a game against the Washington Wizards, the giant center scored 38 points to lead the Houston Rockets to victory. Ming added 11 rebounds, 6 blocks, and a couple of nice assists. The four centers the Wizards used combined for 7 points and committed 11 fouls.
For the season, Ming is averaging 25.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while making 53 percent of this field goals attempts and 85 percent of his free throws. The last number may be unprecedented for a center. Meanwhile, the Rockets have started the season 14-6.
JOHN adds: I’m not a pro basketball fan and have never seen Ming play, but I bumped into him in a bar the night before the Rockets played the Timberwolves a year or two ago. Generally, the NBA inflates players’ heights, but Ming was the most astonishingly tall man I’ve ever encountered.
