Plan B unveiled, but what is Plan C? [UPDATED]

The House has determined its next step in the ongoing Continuing Resolution drama. It will pass a CR keeps the government running provided that Obamacare is delayed for one-year and a medical-device tax included in Obamacare is repealed permanently.

Will the Senate go along with delaying Obamacare for one-year? I doubt it.

The House’s move does create the possibility that Democratic Senators facing reelection in Red States will go on record as unwilling to delay Obamacare for just one year even in order to keep the federal government running. But it’s also possible that Reid will let a small number of endangered Dems off the hook while still blocking the House proposal.

House Republicans reportedly are excited about this move. Speaker Boehner described himself as “a happy warrior.” Purists and “RINOs” alike pronounced themselves pleased.

But what happens if the Senate votes down the new House measure on the eve of a government shutdown? According to Rep. Phil Gingrey, the Republican caucus “really didn’t talk about exactly what the plan would be then.”

Presumably, Boehner and others have thought this through. But why spoil the fun by talking about it?

UPDATE: Here’s one account of Plan C.
