America gets it

I get the sense from talking to people here in the Washington, D.C. area that support for war with Iraq is growing even among liberals and Democrats. Most of my acquaintances fit this description. They now seem to understand, and at some level even accept, the case for the war. The people I talk to all believe that the war probably will go well militarily. The biggest reservation I hear is the understandable one that the war could produce terror right here where we live. However, folks seem to recognize that the terrorists in this country will attack us sooner or later regardless of what we do in Iraq. Thus, I’m detecting, even among some pretty die-hard liberals I know, a reluctant acceptance of the merits of the upcoming war.
