S&P 500, Nasdaq hit record highs as chip strength offsets Iran worries
How long can it last, you ask? How has it lasted this long?
The tale of the tape: the S&P 500 index closed at a new record high today, finishing above 7,412, after reaching a record intra-day high of almost 7,429 earlier in the day. It’s up over 8 percent for 2026 year to date.
The market is up nearly six-and-a-half percent since the day in early February when actress Sydney Sweeney rang the opening bell on the stock exchange.
I don’t think that has to do with anything, but i just wanted to mention her name. I will note, though, that the market is up nearly 9 percent since her HBO TV show returned to the airwaves last month after a more than four-year absence.
Call it the “Sydney Sweeney Effect.” It’s like the era of Mad Men has returned and we can all have fun again.
