Henry Nowak: PM Starmer speaks, cop quits

The U.K. Prime Minister, the Right Honorable Sir Keir Starmer (KCB KC MP PC), spoke with reporters today about the brutal murder of the young university student Henry Nowak at the hands of Vickrum Digwa back in December of last year.

Meanwhile, it was announced that one of the police officers involved in the incident was allowed to quietly and anonymously resign. From Sky News UK,

One of the police officers involved in the arrest of Henry Nowak has resigned, according to Hampshire Police.

A spokesperson said: “Three of the officers are still serving, one officer has resigned.

“As the IOPC has confirmed, they are all being treated as witnesses, so not subject to any current restrictions.”

Yes, you understood that correctly. The officer who resigned will never, ever face any repercussions from the events of December 3. The other three officers remain on the taxpayer payroll and on active duty, as we await the ever-forthcoming report of the IOPC independent review board, whose work now enters its seventh month, without result.

And we are now told that there is a second review. From Sky News,

Another investigation is being launched into Hampshire Police following the death of Henry Nowak.

Donna Jones, the Conservative police and crime commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, has commissioned His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) to investigate “the culture and performance of the control room and its ability to communicate critical threat information to officers on the ground”.

The commissioner herself admits,

Henry died on a street in Southampton, handcuffed, having told police officers on multiple occasions that he had been stabbed and that he could not breathe.

He was not believed. He was not treated as a victim. Those words should have triggered an immediate and urgent medical response.

Henry died on the street, while being read his rights as an accused criminal. No longer able to speak, the last words Nowak heard were “you have the right to remain silent.”

Back to the Prime Minister. Starmer piles on to the idea that the real problem with the Nowak case was not his brutal, unprovoked murder, or the callous indifference shown by the responding police to the dying Nowak. No, the real problem is the (small “c”) conservative reaction to these events. Quoted by Sky News,

Asked about Reform leader Nigel Farage saying the reaction to the killing should be one of “pure cold rage”, the PM says this is the “wrong” response to what happened.

Then what, exactly, should be the response? More official indifference? More shoulder shrugs? More needless death? The crime is never the crime. The real crime is always the incorrect reaction to the crime.

The U.K. Guardian is as even-handed in its reporting as you would have guessed,

Starmer urges calm as far right seeks to exploit Henry Nowak murder

Prime minister echoes family’s plea that case should not be used to target communities

To be clear, not a single person has targeted any “community.” But the implication is that this outrage should be taken lying down. That the proper response is quiet dignity because, somehow, Nowak deserved his fate over ancestral crimes of his “community,”

The Guardian‘s report does contain a scoop,

The Guardian understands that the IOPC has found no indication of any disciplinary or criminal offence by the officers involved after six months of inquiries, after it was referred to the watchdog in December.

Nothing? Not a single thing? Official Britain is shutting down all debate on the case using the excuse of an “ongoing” investigation. But the official investigation has already exonerated everyone involved, so what are we waiting for?

Let’s return to the events of the night of December 3. From what I can piece together, the unprovoked stabbing occurred around 11:30 p.m. Had Digwa fled the scene immediately, with Nowak’s phone and the murder weapon, the case may have remained unsolved to this day.

Instead of fleeing himself, Digwa prevented the escape of a wounded and bleeding Nowak. Digwa then summoned to the scene Digwa’s brother, mother and father. Then Digwa’s brother made the emergency 999 call, falsely claiming that Digwa was the victim of a racist attack and falsely stating (or implying) that he had called an ambulance.

When police did arrive, they find Nowak on the ground, pleading for his life, repeatedly stating that he had been stabbed and could not breathe. Digwa’s father is attending to Nowak, preventing Nowak’s escape and preventing Nowak’s examination by police. Digwa’s brother and Digwa himself repeat the false racist attack accusation.

Meanwhile, Digwa’s mum is hiding the murder weapon from police.

Poliee do not call an ambulance, police mock Nowak for his injury claims. Police handcuff Nowak and do not provide first aid.

All of the above is captured on a three-minute bodycam video.

But you are told to withhold judgement until an official report can be released, if one is ever prepared.
