President Bush has announced that he will renominate all 31 judicial candidates who were not confirmed by the Senate during the last session, including Charles Pickering and Priscilla Owen, who were voted down on a straight party-line vote in the Judiciary Committee, which was controlled at the time by Democrats. Bush was not intimidated by suggestions that the Trent Lott affair required him to back off on nominations of southerners who had been attacked by the Democrats. Good news, I think.
