Pryor Stands Up to Critics

Byron York describes the Senate Judiciary Committee’s confirmation hearing on Bill Pryor, Alabama’s Attorney General and a nominee for the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, in which Pryor did not yield an inch to his critics.
It would have been worth the price of admission so see Pryor take on the Democrats. Pryor has been quoted as calling Roe v. Wade “the worst abomination in the history of constitutional law.” Asked whether he stands by that statement, Pryor replied: “I stand by that comment. I believe that not only is [Roe] unsupported by the text and structure of the Constitution, but it has led to a morally wrong result. It has led to the slaughter of millions of innocent unborn children.” Arlen Specter’s response: “Well, let’s move on.”
The Democrats will now have to decide whether to add Pryor to their list of filibusters.
