Earlier today, I reported on the wide-ranging comments made by John Bolton during a breakfast meeting hosted by The American Spectator. As in his book Surrender Is Not An Option, Bolton was quite critical of the State Department, both as an institution and with respect to substantive policy.
The Washington Times reports that these “sentiments have drawn derision from some State Department officials.” One official commented, “he’s very excitable, isn’t he?”
I can report, however, that Bolton delivered his comments this morning in an unexcited, matter-of-fact tone. Unlike, say, a State Department diplomat assigned to Iraq, Bolton did not sound the least bit upset.
