Days of rage averted at the RNC in St. Paul

The lunatic left sent an array of forces to St. Paul to disrupt and destroy the Republican National Convention earlier this month. They meant to do serious harm through violent means that appear to have been closely modeled on 1969′s SDS-sponsored Days of Rage riots in Chicago. Law enforcement authorities did an admirable job of preventing the scheme from working. Media interest in what the left had planned for St. Paul has been scarce, both before and after the convention.

Having come under attack for their actions during the convention, law enforcement authorities have begun to talk back. Last week Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher held a press conference to defend the work of his office in preventing what he described as the intended destruction of St. Paul on the first day of the convention. St. Paul police officer Paul Iovino provides a ground-level perspective on the work of authorities during the convention.

Star Tribune metro columnist Katherine Kersten reports the concerted efforts of the Coalition to March on the RNC and Stop the War together with those those who sought to destroy the convention through violent means. Kersten shows that the Coalition worked hand in glove as a front group for the leftist thugs.

Take a look at the groups and individuals affiliated with the Coalition to March on the RNC. It’s a long list that among others includes Cindy Sheehan, several SDS chapters and anti-Israel groups. The list sheds some light on the sources of support for the efforts described in Kersten’s column:

Lynne Stewart appears at the end of the list, just before the absurd Cornel West. She is of course the former attorney for the blind sheikh who was the spiritual mentor of the 1993 World Trade Center bombers. Stewart has herself been convicted of providing material support for terrorists in the course of her representation of the blind sheikh. She embodies what David Horowitz calls “the unholy alliance” between Islamists and the radical left that — as I argued in the brief account of my encounter with Stewart — is united only by its hatred of the United States.
