Wisconsin Update

Scott wrote earlier about the scandal in Wisconsin, where unionized public school teachers have forced school closings by calling in sick so that they can march on the state’s capitol in Madison. They are protesting against Governor Scott Walker’s proposed legislation that would limit the power of public unions and make Wisconsin a right-to-work state. Here, via Drudge, is a short video of the inside of Wisconsin’s Capitol as the teachers make like oppressed Egyptians:

Ed Morrissey has much more at Hot Air, including photos of the teacher/demonstrators, like this one. Click to enlarge:

So can we assume that all of that talk about “civil discourse” is no longer operative? Oh, one more thing: the marauding teachers are being encouraged and supported by the Democratic National Committee.
Curbing public sector unions must be one of the top priorities of the American people. Where is Margaret Thatcher when we need her?
UPDATE: I almost forgot–Democratic Senators are fleeing the capital to try to prevent a vote on Walker’s proposal, which otherwise will pass the Republican-controlled body. This is too funny:

Democratic senators apparently fled the area to prevent a vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s budget-repair bill, which would cut public employee union collective bargaining rights and require them to contribute to pensions and health care.
Law enforcement has been sent to find missing Democratic lawmakers, according to a Madison, Wis. ABC affiliate. State Sen. leader Scott Fitzgerald said only one Democrat is needed for quorum to vote on the controversial bill, which is expected to pass a Republican-majority Senate. The “Sergeant of Arms is going door to door to find Democratic senators.” …
Sources tell the Madison NBC affiliate that Democratic lawmakers may have left the state to avoid a vote, possibly fleeing to the Illinois border, about an hour drive from Madison.

Hilarious! Just as Texas Democrats fled to Oklahoma to prevent a vote a few years ago. Are Democrats hard to embarrass, or what? Keep these antics in mind next time a Democrat tries to lecture you about democracy.
MORE COMIC RELIEF: Just got a tweet saying that the Democrats’ Senate leader called in to CNN a few minutes ago, but wouldn’t say where he was hiding.

I can’t keep up anymore! Crosshairs bad, crosshairs good? I guess it all depends. Here they actually have a person in the crosshairs; normally that would make it really, really bad. Only here the person is a Republican, so that’s different. I don’t know…this civility stuff is complicated.
