So far today the stock markets are up sharply, probably reflecting the judgment of traders that the Brexit referendum will fail. Curious, isn’t it, that the perpetuation of the EU is thought to be so important to Wall Street? Where are Bernie and Trump on this? Stay tuned for updates. . .

 Where are the headlines saying, “House Democrats Attempt to Shut Down the Government”? Oh, that’s right—only Tea Party Republicans do that.

• Reason to cheer up? Interesting conversation last night with a semi-prominent Democratic Party donor, who said the mayhem in the Republican Party is nothing compared to what is certain to happen to the Democratic Party if Hillary wins the election in November. My interlocutor thinks the Democratic Party is so bereft of ideas and plausible candidates down the road that Berniementum will seem sane and sensible by comparison when we look back. He thinks a crackup under President Hillary is a near certainty. Hmmmm. . .

• I see Anthony Kennedy is having another bad day at the Supreme Court, but I’ll leave this to Paul. At some point, though, I think we’ll need to come up with an equivalent of our Green Weenie Award for bad judges and justices. Maybe the Limp Gavel?
