Meanwhile, Across the Pond. . .

While we await the summa of Trumpismo tonight, it’s worth a look across the pond at the early outings of Britain’s new prime minister, Theresa May. I’d never heard of her before the Brexit vote, but at least two early moves look promising. First, she appointed Boris Johnson foreign secretary, which is more recondite punishment for John Kerry. Second, May has indicated her government will shut down or downgrade climate change initiatives that David Cameron indulged, and expand fracking for natural gas. May said early on, “I want to see an energy policy that emphasises the reliability of supply and lower costs for users.” Brexit is proving even more awesome than it first appeared.

Then there’s her first outing with PM’s Question Time, where she swatted away the loathsome Jeremy Corbyn. The Spectator‘s judgment is that May “wiped the floor” with Corbyn. Do we have another Maggie on our hands? Let’s go to the videotape (about 11 minutes);
