With a little less than one-third of the precincts reporting, Tom Daschle has a two-point lead over John Thune. It is interesting to note that Daschle is running well behind Stephanie Herseth, and even farther behind President Bush. Still, with Bush getting 60% of the vote in the precincts that have reported, it’s hard to say that they are particularly weighted in Daschle’s favor.
UPDATE: With around 40% reporting, it’s 50-50.
MORE: With over half the precincts reporting, Thune has moved out to an 1,800 vote lead.
GOOD NEWS: With most of the votes in, Thune’s lead is 2,800.
BETTER: Thune is pulling away; it’s now 3,800.
THE LATEST: Thune is ahead by 4,700.
