Ward Connerly, one of our heroes, has proposed an initiative in California that would ban the collection of racial statistics. This is part of Connerly’s long campaign for a race-neutral America. The initiative is, I think, a good idea; if governments are barred from collecting race-related data, a good deal of mischief will be avoided. The photo below shows a group of students at the University of California at Santa Barbara, protesting outside a meeting of the University’s Board of Regents. Somehow, it seems odd for leftists to take to the streets to demand that governments classify their citizens according to race and ethnic origin. This is, I guess, what liberalism has come to.
