Panetta on Benghazi: I knew right away

In an interview yesterday on MSNBC Leon Panetta stated that he knew immediately the 9/11 incident in Benghazi was a terrorist attack (video below). How did he know? “I didn’t have any specific information, but the fact was: when you bring grenade launchers to a demonstration, there’s something else going on. And I just, from the very beginning, sensed that this was an attack — this was a terrorist attack on our compound.”

The interview being on MSNBC, the interviewer failed to follow up with questions to Panetta about the Obama administration’s absurd attribution of responsibility for the attack to “a hateful video.” Or whether Susan Rice is a knave or a fool. Or what he thought of Hillary Clinton’s telling the parents of Tyrone Woods that they were going to get the guy who made the video. Or why Obama was still yammering about the video when he appeared before the United Nations two weeks later. Or why Panetta’s disagreements with the president weren’t sufficiently serious to warrant his resignation on principle.
