Bring on the Harris Pole

John Kerry once tapped James Taylor to croon “You’ve Got a Friend” to the French, a performance Steve thought difficult to surpass. On the other hand, with his rendition of “Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World” in Kiev, Antony Blinken may have pulled it off. If the Democrats now seek to surpass Tony, they can turn to vice president Kamala Harris. Remember, she got her start charming Willie Brown, thirty years her senior, and later came to the attention of the composite character president David Garrow described in Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama.

“She is brilliant and she is dedicated, and she is tough, and she is exactly what you’d want in anybody who is administering the law, and making sure that everybody is getting a fair shake,” the president said of Kamala.  “She also happens to be by far the best-looking attorney general in the country. It’s true! C’mon.” In 2024, the Democrats can trick out Kamala in a minimalist outfit, put her on stage with dancing pole, and let Biden’s vice president give foreign leaders a “fair shake.”

As James and Bobby Purify said, “bend over, let me see you shake a tail feather!” As she struts her stuff, Kamala can lip-synch “What a Feeling,” from the landmark film Flashdance. Like Donna Summer, Kamala can offer “Hot Stuff,” but as Joe Cocker said, “Leave Your Hat On,” lest things get out of hand.

The leaders of Hamas, Ukraine, and Iran will love Kamala’s fair shake, and Willie Brown, 90, will recall the way they were back in the day. It’s true, c’mon! The performance might even lead to a new career for Kamala starting next year. As Trump says, we’ll have to see what happens.
