Inside a “protest”

Featured image NRO staff reporter James Lynch embedded himself in the New York City edition of the April 15 Kill the Jews rallies staged by A15 around the United States on Monday. I wrote about the rallies yesterday in “From sea to shining sea.” NRO has published Lynch’s story in “‘Israel Is a Terrorist State’: Scenes from New York City’s Disruptive Anti-Israel Rally.” Lynch’s story reflects the hatreds coursing through the mob, »

Iran Insanity

Featured image Two friends of mine comment on the Obama/Biden administration’s bizarre partiality toward Iran. In the New York Post, Glenn Reynolds writes: Post-[Iran’s] attack [on Israel]— going further yet beyond parody — the Biden administration’s chief effort has been aimed at demanding Israel not retaliate. That’s right. Israel has had more than a thousand of its citizens raped, tortured, murdered and kidnapped, it’s been subjected to a massive missile attack, and »

From sea to shining sea

Featured image Not from the river to the sea, but from sea to shining sea the Kill the Jews crowd was out in force blocking bridges and roadways around the United States yesterday. They did their thing in San Francisco, Oakland, New York City, Philadelphia, San Antonio, Seattle, and points elsewhere in the United States. In the heart of the country they temporarily shut down travel into Chicago O’Hare International Airport. For »

Israel strikes Iran in Damascus

Featured image The IDF has struck the IRGC’s Syria/Lebanon leadership inside the building next to Iran’s embassy in Damascus. The strike reportedly killed seven members of the IRGC including the top Iranian commander in Syria. If so, that would be seven for the price of one. The Times of Israel reports the story here. The Israelis have awesome intelligence. Israel cannot live with the daily attacks from Hezbollah across its northern border. »

Israel Update, Tablet style

Featured image Tablet has adopted Michael Doran and Gadi Taub as co-hosts of their Israel Update podcast. Tune in to episode 3 (video below) “Is Israel’s Supreme Court going to tear the country apart?” My take is that Israel’s Supreme Court has a lot in common with the Harvard Corporation. Here is Tablet’s summary of the episode: The world of Israeli jurisprudence is so surreal that you have to pinch yourself to »

Hezbollah for dummies

Featured image Yesterday the Foundation for Defense of Democracies posted its link-laden Insight compilation 10 Things to Know About Hezbollah — and indeed it provides insight into the nature of Hezbollah that is apparently beyond the ken of the mainstream media. With FDD’s permission, here it is: 1. Hezbollah is an Iran-backed Islamist terrorist organization Hezbollah (also spelled “Hizballah”) is a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization and a political party based in Lebanon. »

Conricus’s CAMERA briefing

Featured image I attempted to summarize what I found to be the most newsworthy elements of IDF Lt. Colonel Jonathan Conricus’s CAMERA briefing in a nearby post this morning. I mentioned that the briefing had been recorded, but that it had not been made available. CAMERA has just sent out an email with links to its webinars including the Conricus briefing. I thought this was an intensely interesting and informative briefing. I »

Almost live from Tel Aviv

Featured image I sat in on a 25-minute Zoom briefing by IDF Lt. Colonel Jonathan Conricus yesterday afternoon. The briefing was hosted by CAMERA, which recorded the briefing but has not made it available. Conricus spoke rapidly and with great intensity. Among other things I have not read or heard elsewhere, he observed that Hamas had fired 8,000 rockets at Israel so far. Taking notes, I found it difficult to keep up »

The second war against the Jews

Featured image Clifford D. May is founder and president of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) and a columnist for the Washington Times. He is a veteran reporter, foreign correspondent, and editor for the New York Times and other publications. I’m late getting to Cliff’s October 25 column “The second war against the Jews” (at FDD, where it is posted with links). Cliff has kindly given us his permission to post »

Eyeless in Gaza

Featured image Tony Badran is a research fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, where he focuses on Lebanon, Hezbollah, Syria, and the geopolitics of the Levant. Tablet originally published his illuminating column “Eyeless in Gaza” on October 18. FDD has cross-posted it here with Badran’s many links. The column provides an illuminating account of “how the U.S. blinded Israeli intelligence gathering efforts on Hamas and other Palestinian groups inside Lebanon.” »

Live from Tel Aviv

Featured image IDF Lt. Colonel Jonathan Conricus (reserve) returns this morning with a nine-minute briefing on the status of Israel’s war on Hamas. He begins with news of the rescue of an Israeli hostage yesterday. According to Conricus, that’s one down, 238 to go. He gives us a glimpse of IDF Major General Yaron Finkelman, head of the IDF Southern Command, “leading the troops from the front.” According to the Times of »

Live from Tel Aviv

Featured image I have heard from many Power Line readers who appreciate the regular appearance of IDF Lt. Colonel Jonathan Conricus here on the status of the war. However, he has not recorded an update from Tel Aviv this morning. He has posted brief personal reflections from the conclusion of an interview with CNN (below). I admit not being prepared for @jchatterleyCNN's last question.Israel is a mourning nation, still in the early »

Live from Tel Aviv

Featured image IDF Lt. Colonel (reserve) Jonathan Conricus posted another update on the status of the war a few hours ago. I have embedded it below. In this update Conricus focuses on the northern front. Hezbollah and Iran are testing Israel and President Biden. He rightly characterizes himself as “a credible source.” He reports that Hezbollah has been escalating its attacks on Israel. Hezbollah does not appear to be paying Biden’s instruction »
