Joel Mowbray reports: Kirk calls for AID investigation

Joel Mowbray follows up on his page-one Washington Times story on American aid flowing to Palestinian universities friendly to terrorism. Joel writes:

Two congressional committees yesterday held hearings on the U.S. Agency for International Development, just three days after my Washington Times story about assistance going to Palestinian universities that engage in support, advocacy, or glorification of terrorism. Both hearings were scheduled some time ago, but the article played a significant role in each. I will write again about the hearings themselves, after I get the full transcripts within the next 24 hours.
The most tangible result to come out of the hearings is that Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) called for an inspector general’s report. Significantly, USAID’s director, Amb. Tobias agreed during questioning to instruct the IG to investigate, according to Rep. Kirk’s office.
Reading Rep. Kirk’s press release here, it appears that there might be still another stream of funding
flowing to the Hamas-controlled Islamic University.
If USAID knows that any competent investigation would uncover that even more funds are going to Islamic University or al Quds University, the agency ought to come clean. Now.
