If She Won’t Scan the Bacon, Do I Get It for Free?

Over at the AOL site, I comment on the latest anti-assimilation story here in the Twin Cities: certain Somali immigrants who work as cashiers in grocery stores are refusing to scan the prices on pork products or put packages containing pork in grocery bags. Some “community leaders,” of course, say that we need to “adapt to them,” a view I don’t share.
