Open Borders: A Better Argument–Do It For Her!

At Cafe Hayek, the lovely Naomi Brockwell makes an unabashed case for open borders. Open borders for America, that is. She makes her case from…Perth, Australia. Hmm. Here she is:

The comments are entertaining:

That video was awesome, I watched it three times. What was it about?

A reader pointed me to the video, and adds these comments:

Of course, SHE is a completely desirable immigrant! That’s what makes this little jewel of open borders propaganda so insidious. Wonderful happy talk from a babe–not even an American, of course–telling us, in a nice way, that we should, and by right!….admit literally anyone who wants to enter the U.S. on any basis they choose. It’s all good. Lots of unexamined and unstated assumptions, though, and pure economism. The “economy” will be “helped” by massive immigration of, literally, every skill level. Think of the GDP! It’s all good! And they deserve it! It is a screed, completely unabashed and undisguised, for literally unlimited immigration–to the U.S.–by a…foreigner….hot as she is! Now THAT is way too sneaky!

I do have a deal for her, though. Unlike the U.S., Australia is massively underpopulated. It’s comparable to the U.S. in about 1835. So here’s the deal: all these incredibly valuable immigrants–hordes of them–we will, out of the generosity of our hearts, GIVE to Australia!…yup!….Scores of millions of Mexicans…Indian and Chinese high tech geniuses in the hundreds of millions…the entire working age population of Bangladesh! We’ll even pay their transportation–one way–so they go to Oz instead of here. Just think of the GDP!! It will let the babe Aussies put their money on the line, as it were.

You’re welcome.

Heh. The immigration debate gets more entertaining all the time.
