The Democrats held their presidential candidates’ be-in on ABC this past Saturday night. Time has posted a transcript. I have posted the video below. The be-in made for difficult viewing, but reading the transcript isn’t much easier. It’s painful.
Hillary will of course be the Democratic nominee. She seems to me an increasingly absurd figure. I find it hard to take her seriously, but she’s as serious as cancer. When it comes to anything approaching truth, she’s certainly as deadly. I’m getting ready for Hillary.
Madam Hillary made news with two comments. As for the war against ISIS, she pronounced that all is well: “We now finally are where we need to be. We have a strategy and a commitment to go after ISIS….And we finally have a U.N. Security Council resolution bringing the world together to go after a political transition in Syria.” Everything is beautiful in its own way.
Like President Obama, Madam Hillary purports to understand the mind of Islamist terrorist including ISIS. She holds out Donald Trump as ISIS’s best recruiting tool. “He is becoming ISIS’s best recruiter,” Clinton said. “They are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists.”
The Clinton campaign has been unable to identify such a video, but the point should be irrelevant except insofar as it demonstrates her wayward way with facts. We should do what we think is right rather than let ISIS dictate to us.
If we think Donald Trump would make a great president, let’s do it, ISIS be damned. If we think we need Madam Hillary, let’s do it, ISIS be damned.
Incidentally, President Obama held himself out as the man who would make the world new for the United States with the Muslim world. It hasn’t worked out that way. He has richly earned the contempt of friend and foe around the world.
Clinton may have missed it, but ISIS has released a 10,000-word manifesto on the proper role of women in the well-ordered society. The manifesto provides that it is “legitimate” for girls to be married to fighters at the age of nine and emphasizes their “sedentary” role as wives, mothers and homemakers.
The ISIS manifesto also criticizes Western women and human rights concepts of equality between men and women. After marriage, the woman’s “appointed role [is to] remain hidden and veiled and maintain society from behind[.]” (Leading from behind? Where have we heard that before?)
By the way, as the Independent’s summary points out, plastic surgery is strictly prohibited, as are piercings or “things hanging from ears,” as is shaving hair in some places. Fashion shops and beauty salons are condemned as the work of the devil. This may come as a shock to Team Hillary, but ISIS must detest her on numerous grounds.
Those who know their ancient history will recall that Hillary expressly rejected the sedentary role of women as homemakers in the first Clinton presidential campaign of 1992. The ISIS manifesto makes it clear that women are to be subordinate to men. There will be no female leader of ISIS. The very idea of such a role for a woman would strike them as an absurd abomination.
If Hillary Clinton is elected president of the United States, she is therefore highly likely to become ISIS’s best recruiting tool. Regardless, ISIS can go to hell, and it should be among the next president’s first orders to make sure they do.
