I will have thoughts on the implications of Brexit later in the day, but for now want to ask a more limited question: why are liberals so hateful?
The last days of the EU campaign were marred by the Remain camp–i.e., the forces of Britain’s establishment–trying to use the appalling murder of MP Jo Cox as political fodder. Against all reason, they tried to tar the Brexit campaign with the insane deed of a lone nut. This is just the kind of thing our own liberals do here in the U.S., for example in the House of Representatives, when they shut down the government to advance their claim that Republicans like to arm terrorists and kill people. It is disgraceful, yet we see such behavior from liberals again and again.
This morning, a crowd of angry liberals (“Remain” supporters) besieged the home of Boris Johnson, one of the leaders of the Brexit campaign and likely Britain’s next Prime Minister:
Boris Johnson is the bookies’ favourite to be the next Prime Minister but the popular political figure needed police protection to get out of his house this morning.
He emerged from his house to angry chants of “scum, scum, scum” from onlookers.
His efforts to say “good morning” were drowned out by the heckles and jeers as he made his way to the waiting cab in a blaze of camera flashes, followed closely by an aide.
Police officers struggled to keep crowds at bay as onlookers surrounded the car, slowing its departure. …
A steady stream of commuters cycled past throughout the morning, some shouting insults and jeering.
The Left in the U.K. isn’t exactly like the Left in America, but its hateful nature is familiar. Brexit supporters displayed nothing like Remain’s venom. Take, for instance, Elizabeth Hurley:

Liberals at home and abroad should take a lesson in basic manners and proper civility in a democracy from conservatives.
