I haven’t written anything for a couple of days, which as regular readers know is highly unusual. My wife and I have been in New York for a few days, mostly offline. The occasion was a symposium on antisemitism on the right, which I participated in yesterday. The event was off the record, but I can say that one of the speakers (along with me and two others) was Princeton’s Robbie George. It was an interesting day, and I hope we shed a little light on one of the many dark developments of our time.
We took the opportunity to check out for a couple of days and pursue our own interests, which mostly means museums and dinners. We didn’t encounter any paid barbarians, and the city as we experienced it was entirely peaceful. New York may be going to Hell, but as far as I can see it hasn’t arrived yet.
We took in a nice Raphael exhibit at the Met along with some collection highlights:
We spent Friday afternoon at the Frick, where there is a lovely Gainsborough exhibit. You can’t take pictures at the Frick, but this Constable is one of my favorites:
Being off the grid for a couple of days is a rare luxury. Regular posting will resume shortly.
