Weiner Is Cooked

We noted this morning that Andrew Breitbart has received emails, texts and photographs from a young woman who corresponded with Congressman Anthony Weiner. Breitbart says he received these materials a week before Weiner’s grey underpants story broke. His Big Government and Big Journalism sites are releasing the Weiner photos and emails over the course of the day.
The first couple of photos were relatively innocuous, but now we come to this one, which allegedly was sent to the young woman on May 20. Shades of Chris Lee!

Most astonishing is what comes next: two days before he emailed the shirtless photo above, Weiner allegedly emailed the same young woman the now-infamous gray underwear photo. Its file name was “package.jpg.” Later the same day, Weiner sent the woman another photo which Breitbart says is “extremely graphic, and leaves nothing to the imagination.” That photo is named “ready.jpg.”
Apparently Breitbart was sitting on this material through the entire grey underwear/Twitter controversy involving the coed in Washington. Now, what I really want to know is whether he has the Twitter traffic between Weiner and the porn star!
UPDATE: Star magazine has another woman–described as a Democratic campaign volunteer who is “middle-aged and from Nevada”–to whom Weiner allegedly sent 200 sexually explicit messages on Facebook. She also says that she never met Weiner, but “once had a 30 minute phone sex session with Weiner on his government provided telephone.” (Maybe he got the idea from Bill Clinton.) I don’t have the same confidence in Star’s editorial standards that I do in Breitbart, so take it for what it is worth. If you follow the link, the quoted messages do have a seeming ring of truth. One wonders, now that the floodgates have opened, whether other women will emerge.
FURTHER UPDATE: The New York Times has interviewed Breitbart:

Mr. Breitbart, a provocative scourge of the political left, said in an interview that he knows who the woman is and that she would be stepping forward shortly to explain how she came into possession of the photos.
“You’re going to know who this person is by tomorrow,” Mr. Breitbart said. “She is going to come out of her anonymity in a very short time. She will be coming forward to communicate the means by which she received these photos. I think it will be clear that she is telling the truth.”
An ABC News official said that the network has conducted an interview with a woman, who says she received the photos from Mr. Weiner, evidently the same photos Mr. Breitbart obtained.
As of this afternoon, the network was determining when it would broadcast the interview.

MORE: Weiner has scheduled a press conference for 4:00 Eastern, perhaps to announce his resignation.
FINAL UPDATE: I took time out to watch the press conference. I thought Weiner did about as well as he could. He was tearful and contrite, and–with some prompting–apoligized to Andrew Breitbart. He said he had engaged in six sexting relationships. The most salient point is that he is not resigning, but apparently intends to run for re-election.
You couldn’t help feeling sorry for Weiner, but cynics would point out that he lied as long as he had any hope of getting away with it, and only told the truth as a last resort when the story was about to blow sky-high and he had no choice. Also, I would have more sympathy for Weiner if he hadn’t spent his entire career as a vicious attack dog.
OK, JUST ONE MORE: It was a strange afternoon, a fitting climax to a strange story. Weiner was late for his press conference; Andrew Breitbart happened to be in town, and he showed up. Journalists started asking Andrew questions, so, inasmuch as the podium was vacant, he stepped up to the microphone and conducted his own mini-press conference. Vindication is sweet:
