N*****head Revisited

Evelyn Waugh wrote his novel Brideshead Revisited to depict “the operation of Grace” — “that is to say, the unmerited and unilateral act of love by which God continually calls souls to Himself.”

Over the weekend the big Washington Post story on Rick Perry turned on a hunting lodge once known, the Post bluntly reports in the service of its cause, as “Niggerhead.” The story is a piece of work, in its own way depicting “the operation of Race” in the Democrat/Media axis.

Ann Althouse takes a look at the story in a post I would title N*****head Revisited. Waugh’s definition of “Grace” can easily be adapted to understanding “the operation of Race.”
