No, Mr. Obama, We Aren’t “Doing Fine”

Later today, President Obama will try to “re-frame” the campaign debate over the economy in a speech in Ohio. Good luck with that: the economy is lousy, everyone knows it, and Obama has been in charge of the executive branch for the last 3 1/2 years. His problem isn’t “framing,” his problem is that his policies have failed. Dismally.

Obama will also have to try to get out from under one of his most revealing moments so far, when he explained that “the private sector is doing fine” and made the case for shifting even more resources from the private sector to government. Far from being a gaffe, this was a capsule version of Obama’s deeply-held political philosophy.

The Romney campaign released its second video on Obama’s pronouncement today. It is simple and good:
