Steve has posted charts like this one several times; he may actually have put this particular one up. But the point bears repeating: liberals, above all young liberal women, suffer from mental illness to an extraordinary degree. Conservatives are normal and reasonably healthy, by comparison:

I doubt that there has ever been a time in human history when politicians have sought to gain power by assembling a coalition of the helpless, the emotionally damaged, the inadequate, the fearful. Intuitively, you would think that would be a bad idea. But in today’s America, it seems to be working for the Democrats. They do all they can to drive despair and pessimism among the young, then recruit the clinically depressed to vote for them and be their storm troopers.
That strikes me as contemptible, but I suppose liberals would say it is compassionate.
