Real Men For Trump

The gender gap–the fact that Democrats struggle to get men to vote for them–looms large in this year’s election. I wrote earlier today about the fact that Thomas “the Hitman” Hearns appeared last night at a rally in Detroit with Donald Trump. Hearns is, I believe, the first world champion from Detroit since Joe Louis.

Now, in Pennsylvania, we learn that Le’veon Bell, former star running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has endorsed Trump. Thus:

Trump or the tramp? Ouch.

And, just 20 minutes ago as I write this:

I don’t know how much it helps Trump to be endorsed by black athletes, but it can’t hurt. This year’s election is defined, as much as anything, by 1) the testosterone gap between Donald Trump and JD Vance on one side, versus Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on the other, and 2) the flight of racial minorities away from the Democrats and toward the Republicans. Those phenomena are, obviously, closely linked.

One thing we can say with confidence is that there is no longer any price to be paid by blacks like Thomas Hearns and Le’veon Bell to come out for Trump and the Republicans. That could prove to be an enormous step forward.
