The Associated Press is at best an obfuscatory source of what is presented to us as news. The AP’s obfuscations of course carry a political tilt. In the sentence below, for example, the AP refers to “Palestinian militants.” AP guidelines insist on the use of the bland and meaningless term “militant” to cover genocidal terrorists such as Hamas.

The influence of AP usage in the business is both stultifying and cancerous. It has spread to the Wall Street Journal and other formerly respectable organs of the mainstream press.
In that single sentence the worst is yet to come. We are informed that Shiri Bibas and her two sons “died in captivity.” Knowledgeable readers may reflect that “died” is probably not le mot juste, as they say in France, or probably not the right word, as they used to say in the news business.
🚨 Breaking: Forensic evidence confirms that both Kfir and Ariel Bibas were first choked to death by Palestinians with bare hands. Their bodies were then mutilated with rocks to simulate death by bombardment.
