The Daily Chart: Europe’s Weakness

The European, especially the German government that is about to get tossed out on its keister next weekend, is mightily upset at Vice President Vance’s Munich speech, not to mention other statements that a Europe that is worried about Russian aggression needs to step up. Macron calls emergency European summit on Trump, Polish minister says

MUNICH — French President Emmanuel Macron is convening European leaders for an emergency summit in Paris on Monday, according to Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday.

“I’m very glad that President Macron has called our leaders to Paris,” Sikorski said, adding that he expects the European leaders to discuss “in a very serious fashion” the challenges posed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Full disclosure, as the saying goes: Sikorski is an old friend who hosted me in Warsaw for lectures twice back in the aughts. But he’s sadly become very anti-Trump.
