The Daily Chart: Sports and Taxes

With the Super Bowl now safely over, we can get back to real sports—taxes and spending and our bloated national government. Last week the Wall Street Journal reported that the blockbuster trade that sent Dallas Mavericks’ star Luca Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers is going to cost Doncic about $15 million in higher income taxes over the next three years of his current contract because of California’s 13% income tax rate (versus zero in Texas).

Meanwhile, the Journal also reports that while most of the country is shutting down its hated DEI regimes, the NFL remains “all in” on DEI:

[NFL commissioner Roger Goodell] firmly stood by the NFL’s diversity initiatives and said they won’t change just because the political climate has shifted, adding that they’re both positive for the league and a “reflection of our fan base and our communities and our players.”

“We got into diversity efforts because we felt it was the right thing for the National Football League, and we’re going to continue to do those efforts,” Goodell said. “We’re not in this because it’s a trend to get into it or a trend to get out of it.”

I wonder what NFL players think? Maybe this is a clue:
