All the trouble in the world

From BBC News,

‘My wife died giving birth after Trump cut funding to our clinic.’

You, dear reader, no doubt have the same question I did when first reading this headline: where in the world did Trump travel in order to commit this murder? Before I answer, I’ll post the trigger warning that the BBC included in the piece,

Warning: Readers may find some details in this article distressing.

You’ve been warned.

A 20-minute drive away, the clinic was in Shesh Pol village in Afghanistan’s north-eastern Badakhshan province. It was where their two older children were born.

The Ivy League-educated and well-briefed Trump is aware of many things, but I feel confident in saying that he has never heard of the Shesh Pol village, nor the Badakhshan province in north-eastern Afghanistan. The BBC accuses,

The clinic in Shesh Pol is one of more than 400 medical facilities that closed down in Afghanistan, one of the world’s poorest countries, after the Trump administration cut nearly all US aid to the country earlier this year, in a drastic and abrupt move following the dismantling of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Some of you may have heard of hostilities involving the United States and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, hostilities that lasted from 2001 until 2021. In 2021, then-President Joe Biden withdrew all American forces from the nation. You may have heard of this, but apparently, the BBC has not. Neither the words “war” nor “Biden” appear in the article.

The BBC writes,

For decades, America has been the largest donor to Afghanistan, and in 2024, US funds made up a staggering 43% of all aid coming into the country.

The Trump administration has justified withdrawing it, saying there were “credible and longstanding concerns that funding was benefiting terrorist groups, including… the Taliban”, who govern the country.

The BBC notes that the Taliban denies the accusation, therefore Trump is liar and a double-murderer. Actually, the BBC documents that Trump is a mass murderer.

The British news outlet manages to find not one, but two rural Afghan tribesman who, unprompted, spontaneously blame the United States for their personal 2025 tragedies.

The BBC later in the piece quotes a different grieving father,

“If the clinic had been open, she might have survived. And even if she had died, we would not have had regrets knowing the medics tried their best. Now we’re left with regret and pain. America did this to us,” he said, tears rolling down his face.

“America did this to us.” Not the Taliban, not Russia, not China, not the United Kingdom, not France, not Botswana, not Belize. It was America. And who is America?

So what, dear reader, are you supposed to do to ensure that “America” is never in a position to commit such atrocities, again?
