Kaboom in Qatar [Update: WH rebukes Israel]

The IDF announces that it has struck at Hamas’s leadership hanging out as a guest of the Qatar government at Doha’s best-five star hotels. The operation was conducted jointly with the Shin Bet (ISA). Precision-guided missiles were launched by IDF jets to hit a meeting of Hamas bigwigs in Doha. The results are not yet in, but with any luck Hamas’s leadership team was wiped out. Without luck, they know they no longer enjoy the immunity they have been afforded to date.

I take it that the Israelis advised President Trump of the operation in advance, that Hamas’s negotiating position was unacceptable to Israel, and that Qatar’s game is over as far as the Israelis are concerned. They aren’t happy about it. Playing both sides while housing, funding, and performing public relations for Hamas are all mainstays of the regime.

Adam Kredo reports in the Free Beacon story “FAFO: Israel Strikes Hamas Leadership in Qatar as Top Terrorist Denigrates Ceasefire Deal Following Trump’s ‘Final Warning.'” Here are a few sapient comments via X, starting with the first post in Mark Dubowitz’s well-informed thread.

UPDATE: The White House rebuked Israel at Karoline Leaavitt’s press briefing this afternoon and vowed that such a strike would never happen again. Leavitt asserted: “Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a sovereign nation and close ally of the United States, that is working very hard, and bravely taking risks with us to broker peace does not advance Israel or America’s goals.” Leavitt added that while eliminating Hamas “is a worthy goal,” President Trump views Qatar as a strong ally and friend of the United States and feels very badly about the location of this attack.
